We’re seeking an enthusiastic manager to lead the engineering team
responsible for developing new products and features for the Tripod
(www.tripod.com), Angelfire (www.angelfire.com), and Lycos Domains
(domains.lycos.com) sites. The team is part of a fast-paced but
friendly environment that offers the chance to learn new technologies
while providing great services to our users.
As
Engineering Manager, a qualified candidate will mentor junior
engineers, coordinate the team’s projects, and provide technical
guidance on high-quality Internet application development. The position
is a hands-on one, and candidates should expect to design, write,
review, and test code for some projects.
The Engineering Manager
will also work with Product Management, Quality Assurance, and
Operations to refine product features, estimate development effort, and
reach project milestones. Good communication skills and attention to
detail are critical.
Candidates should have five or more years
of software engineering experience--with an emphasis on developing
applications for the web--and two or more years’ experience managing
software development teams. Familiarity with the major Internet-related
protocols and standards (HTTP, CGI, DNS, HTML, XML) is required;
fluency in C/C++ and Perl and experience with
internationalization/localization issues is also desired. In addition,
the candidate should be familiar with the Linux operating system and
major web servers, principally Apache 1.3 or later.
